We made it! I know I shouldn't always be so surprised, but with two kids, a thousand bags and skateboards/ surfboards/ scooters it's always such a relief to walk in the door and know that we actually survived the journey. Before we left there was some chatter about another possible baby, but all it takes is one long travel day to remind us how lucky we are that we've reached the point of iPad + push pop equaling all day sedation. I'm convinced that the perfect birth control will always be an airplane ride with anyone under the age of 8. Seriously, the airlines should offer this as a service.

Besides one lost bag and a later than planned arrival, the trip was seamless and we have already found our groove. In the morning while dad surfs the boys and I trek through a little jungle path for fresh from the oven, chocolate croissants from the local french bakery, and after that we hit the beach for a few hours for what is now called "body womping." Basically it means we all stand at the shore break and get pounded for an hour, but for some reason the boys can't get enough and them being busy (and happy) is really all we need down here. The big event yesterday was that little Gray surfed! I kid you not, and I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. My husband pushed him off in the whitewash thinking he would body board in, and right away the little guy popped up. He did it a second time, and then took a beating the third but it was pretty much the cutest thing ever. He's so little, from far away you could hardly even tell he was on there. Our new mission this trip is to get some video of it.

Other than the beach we are in an endless cycle of pool, skatepark, pool, dinner. Last night we went back to our favorite restaurant on earth and had a few margaritas to celebrate being back in our home away from home, and tonight it's "taco tuesday" at our favorite local spot. Yes, that's actually a thing. Our only hope for the week is that the boys stop waking up at 4 am, but I have to say the long nap that follows in the afternoon is almost worth it.

The rest of the week I'll be back to posting non-vacation related posts, but for those of you who'd like to see, here is a little glimpse of  life down here. The locals say "pura vida" meaning "pure life" and that pretty much sums things up perfectly. xx
